Reynaldo Robledo, Sr. was born in 1951 in a small pueblo in Atacheo, Michoacán. He came to America in 1968 to join his father and other family members, who were part of the Bracero program, which brought Mexican men to work in the U.S. between 1942 and 1964.

Based in the town of Calistoga in the Napa Valley, Robledo and his family learned how to farm vineyards—and his brother Oscar developed a unique system of grafting grapevines. They went on to teach local and French wineries their grafting techniques, firmly putting the family name on the world wine map. Their system is now the gold standard, worldwide.

Today, fourth-generation Everardo (Reynaldo’s son) carries on the family legacy with his wife, Nadine, and their four children. They craft boutique wines in the cool vineyards of Los Carneros in Sonoma County, which is famed for its world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.

Vinas de Vaquero (‘cowboy vines’) is an elegant Sonoma Pinot Noir. Made in a similar style to Burgundy (France’s and the world’s most famous expression of Pinot), it has expressive notes of black cherry, cranberry, truffle and cinnamon spice. Definitely a bottle to pour with a special meal—it’s deliciously food-friendly and will pair well with anything from grilled salmon to roasted turkey. Judges at the New York International Wine Competition were so impressed, they awarded it 90 points. Plus, it picked up a gold medal at the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition.

Secure your share of this fine Pinot Noir then share with friends and family, as the Robledos do. Cheers!
