The Magpie is a thrilling Napa Cabernet from the famed Oakville region (home to Screaming Eagle and Harlan). Because we signed an NDA to get it (which prohibits us from revealing the winemaker's name), it's yours at an equally thrilling price.

Wine Flavor Profile
The Magpie Cabernet Sauvignon is a full-bodied red wine with aromas of black currant, toasty oak and spice. The palate is elegant, offering ripe blackberry and plum flavors, plus subtle mocha notes.
Wine Food Pairings
Beef, lamb, game, burgers, meaty pasta, aged cheeses.

Within the 72 square miles of vineyards that make up Napa Valley, there is the prestigious Oakville region (only 7.8 square miles of planted vines). These prized grapes are used to craft some of the most famous Cabernet Sauvignon wines in the world—like Screaming Eagle (which retails at $3,700+ a bottle), Harlan ($1,500) and Dalla Valle ($550). It's also home to The Magpie Cabernet Sauvignon.

This fine Oakville Cabernet was acquired with a strict non-disclosure agreement, which prevents us from revealing the name of the renowned winemaker behind it. It was aged for 18 months in premium French oak barrels and comes from the excellent 2023 vintage. As Karen MacNeil wrote in Decanter, “2023 was as perfect as any Napa vintage in living memory.”

In the glass, this wine has all the hallmarks of a fine Oakville Cabernet. Look forward to aromas of black currant nuanced by toasty oak and spice. The palate is elegant, with flavors of ripe blackberry and plum backed by subtle mocha tones.
