Sept D'Or White Burgundy by Jean-Charles Boisset 2022

What if there was one white Burgundy that showcased the best sites across the entire region? The precision of Puligny-Montrachet, the richness of Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Morgeot, the impressive structure of Corton-Charlemagne Grand Cru and the bracing freshness of Chablis Grand Cru Valmur. That’s exactly what Sept D’Or does.

There’s only one man who could pull off such a grand wine experiment: Jean-Charles Boisset. Our customers know him as the charismatic force behind Napa’s Raymond Vineyards estate. But Jean-Charles’ journey in wine began as a child in Burgundy, playing as his parents tended the vines in the Grand Cru vineyards of Clos Vougeot.

To create this one-of-a-kind wine, Jean-Charles called on seven winemakers throughout Burgundy, as referenced by the name Sept D’Or (“golden seven”). Each is a highly respected talent, from legends like Grégory Patriat (who worked at iconic, $1,000s-per-bottle Domaine Leroy before becoming head winemaker at the Boisset family’s winery) to Lucie Depuydt, who leads the historic house of J. Moreau & Fils in Chablis.

The key to this wine is balance. The vibrant, generous fruit notes from sites in the southern Mâconnais region, including Pouilly-Fussé’s premier crus La Maréchaude and Sur la Roche, are complemented by the crisp green-fruit notes and minerality of high-elevation Hautes Côtes de Nuits. From the Côte Chalonnaise, Rully and Mercurey Blanc add an elegant floral lift.

Then comes the incredible concentration and complexity added by some of Burgundy’s biggest names…

From Chablis’ Premier Cru Vaucoupin and Grand Cru Valmur, expect racing acidity and notes of lemon and flint. And the Côte de Beaune’s Puligny-Montrachet (home to astronomically priced bottles of wine), Chassagne-Montrachet Premier Cru Morgeot and Grand Cru Corton-Charlemagne contribute extraordinary length, power and structure with subtle notes of hazelnut, nutmeg and clove.
