We use our Selección Especial label for secret deal wines from top cellars, bottled anonymously and sold for a fraction of their value. So, we can’t reveal the winery name behind Selección Especial Numerada 74 Rioja Crianza, but here’s what we can tell you.
It comes from an award-winning winery with old vines that lie above 700 meters, some of the highest in Rioja, to ensure an elegant style. They have taken home so many medals and awards over the years that we’ve lost count, including ‘Rioja of the Year’.
Made in the excellent 2021 vintage, hailed as one of the greatest Rioja vintages in recent years, five years’ ageing has created a silky-smooth wine with heaps of dark berry fruit and savory oak complexity. A great pairing for hearty casseroles, roast game or hard cheeses.
