Carbonaia hails from Fattoria del Cerro, an estate that has won several major accolades for its wines—including six “Tre Bicchieri” awards from Gambero Rosso and the Best Italian Red Wine award from the Italian Sommelier Association. The acclaim is thanks, in large part, to their talented winemaker, Riccardo Cotarella. He’s a legend in Tuscany, having served as President of the International Union of Oenologists and won his own stack of acclaim.

Riccardo and his team careful tend vines in the estate’s prime-sited Carbonaia vineyard, which is sustainably farmed. They hand harvested only the ripest Sangiovese and Merlot grapes, then took them back to Fattoria del Cerro’s state-of-the-art cellar. After six months of barrel aging, the wine was ready to enjoy.

Look forward to intense aromas of ripe red fruits, orange peel and toasted spices. Well structured and wonderfully smooth, Carbonaia makes a delicious match for traditional pasta dishes, roasted meats and more.
