Giribaldi scores well in "Tastings"

Recently the firm of Giribaldi, which supplies the Lionstone "Fabulae" products, has achieved high ratings in several tastings. The Wine Spectator gave an 86 to their 1995 Barolo with an appraisal of "aromas of dried cherries, pear and mushrooms.  Medium bodied with a lovely core of plum.  Fine tannins."  They also awarded the 1997 Barbera d'Alba with an 85 noting "... with grape and crushed berry flavors and plum notes, this is a joy to taste.  Very ripe and full bodied, it's delicious now."The Beverage Testing Institute in Chicago gave an 88 to their 1998 Barbera d'Alba and an 89 to the 1997 Barolo, with notes as follows: "Bright brick hue.  Exotic sandalwood and dried fruit aromas are quite exotic.  A lean entry leads to a full-bodied palate with big tannins and lots of traditional complexities.  The structure dictates mid-term cellaring."
